Cornfest Returned In Style!
Laird International Raceway - home of the Hot Rides Cornfest 2011 - knows how to throw a party!!!
Blessed by 2 amazing summer days and nights the Cornfest "motor-vated" several thousand folks into high gear. So much stuff was going on that it was impossible to take it all in at once.
The concert stage performances were spectacular. The food was delicious. The beer was cold. The stock car races were wildly thrilling. The car show was epic. Kids rocked the play zone all day long. Cool stuff was for sale in the "vendor bender village".
Fireworks went off twice a night sending lit up transports zooming around the race track in the dark.
And the campsite grounds were jammed with good times and new and good friends.
Charging the LIR concert stage hard on Saturday night were Jimmy Rankin and then Corb Lund with the Hurtin' Albertuns. Earlier in the day The Good Brothers put on a memorable show. Inspired by the great afternoon crowds there were also sensational sets by area favourites Obsession, Wishbone, Bone Yard and The Wild Turkeys.
Sunday night was power driven by Ray Lyell and The Storm and capped off with a rockin' Lonestar. And Asylum Country did the locals proud to start the night off properly.
We are grateful to the sponsors that contributed their belief with backing that made this special weekend possible.
